picture flicker

just finished copiying father ted series one using dvd2svcd to make both my audio and video files for my dvd-r then compiled them in dvd maestro.everything is fine except that i have an annoying picture flicker.this happened when a friend done the same series onto svcd also using dvd2svcd.the series is PAL and its screen ratio is 4:3, anyone any ideas how to stop this?

Either dvd2svcd has selected the wrong "field order", or the dvd is interlaced. You can try switching the "field order" first in the encoder tab. Start with "bottom field first" if that fails then try "top field first", if that fails too, then select automatic again, and select a deinterlacer in the conversion tab. If you're going to see this on TV only I suggest you use "Keep Interlaced", otherwise select "SeperateFields/SelectEvery".
