Okay, if anyone has this DVD, please try to use it with Instant Copy (updated version). Basically, I've chosen to remove all the Titles except 1, 5, 6, 7, and 8. I take out the DTS soundtrack, leave the english subtitles, turn the quality on the main feature (track 1) to 100% and then I take all the extras down to 30%. This leaves me with an estimated file size of 4.3gigs, but more importantly, it means that the feature doesn't get compressed at all.

Here's the big puzzle. When I tell it it create the pdi image files, it actually compresses the entire feature at about 800k-1.2mbps with the above settings. If I take out all the titles except Title 1, it writes it at 10-20mbps (which makes sense since I set it to 100%= No Transcoding). And the final puzzler. If I leave Titles 5, 6, 7, and 8 at their "automatic" file size (closer to 50-60%) then the main title once again gets written at 10-20mbps.

What the hell is going on? Why does Instant Copy insist on transcoding the main feature when I decrease the bitrate on the extras even though I have the main feature set to 100%?

Its a known bug (here), submit a bug report to Pinnacle.

This is not exactly a bug... (At least if I understood the problem correctly)
The percentual values are the ones that are "wished", but it doesn't work that way. The analyse of the movie is done after the selection of reduction was presented. At that point of time it is known to the program whether a title can be compressed to 30% (some titles can't be compressed that much). Now assume a title can only be compressed to 40% at maximum, then there is some space missing on the final DVD (as 10% of that title was "wished" too much). IC has now to regulate the DVD, means to increase the percentual value for these problematic titles and that means it has to reduce the percentual value for titles that have no problem...
