Ok I just performed a fresh install of Windows so I had to redownload and set up all my DVD to Divx tools. I just finished encoding a movie to Divx5 and noticed that there is no Ac3 file. If I'm correct Smartripper usually creates the ac3. So what gives? I always used to use BeSweet for my ac3>mp3 conversion then mux with Nandub.

Is the AC3 track still in the VOBs (when you playback the VOBs, is there audio)? If so, all you need to do is demux the AC3 and then you can transcode to MP3.

BeSweet, I think, accepts VOB input now, so you may not even need to demux. I'm not up on the latest beta releases, but check it out anyways.

There is no ac3 track period. So how do I make one with what I've got? Here's a pic of the folder with all the files I have.

Try reading what OvERaCiD23 said again. The ac3 files (which you are correct, are not in your folder in a seperate file) are inside the vob files still. You can confirm this by playing the vobs in PowerDVD or WinDVD or whatever dvd player you have. If it has audio when you play it, then the audio is inside those files. You can try encoding them with BeSweet (as OvERaCiD23 said) but the way I would do it would be to run the files through DVD2AVI again, and set it to demux the audios. That way you will have the seperate ac3 files, and you can do whatever conversion you want to them. (I haven't been able, although I haven't tried much, to convert directly from vobs, and I am guessing you've neever done that or you'd know how ;)) Just use dvd2avi to get the ac3 files you are looking for. If you don't have audio when playing them with a dvd player, then you will have to rip the ac3 streams from the dvd again.

Exactly what settings do I need to get an ac3 from the vob files using Dvd2Avi? I keep getting this LPCM file and when I joined it with the avi using Nandub there was still no sound.

Your dvd does not have ac3 sound in it,it has pcm-wav audio. I believe you can just use that file in BeSweet to output whatever audio type that you want.

Well it seems I can mix an ac3 witht he video but the sound is so weak I can barely hear it even with the volume way up. When I go ac3>mp3 it finishes in 2 minutes and only gives me some 3mb file. Also, I get all these messages saying "Illegal Symetric 7-level" whatever that means.

I never had these problems before and I have ripped many movies. Dvd2avi always used to give me an ac3 file then Besweet would turn it into an mp3 no problem.

Here's the guide for pcm and mp2 extraction guide. http://www.doom9.org/pcm_and_mpeg2_audio.htm

Hope it helps,
