TMPGEnc problems with divx5

I'm new to this particular forum, but it's the only good place I could find to post a tmpgenc problem I'm having.

Has anyone had experience using tmpgenc to go from divx5 to svcd? I have converted many movies from divx3, 4, those with ac3 audio, everything! But when I try a divx5 clip, tmpgenc shows the first screen, then goes black, BUT KEEPS ENCODING. The 300mb avi then ends up as about 60mb with nothing but the first screen and then black for the rest of the clip????

I have tried extracting the audio, still same result? Is tmpgenc compatible with divx5??
Can anyone help? What could I be doing wrong.

you could try feeding you divx file into avisyth or vdub and frameserve to tmpg

Thanks for the reply. I tried what you suggested and it still doesn't work. I don't think tmpgenc is compatible with divx5? Any other suggestions?

Anyone else ever tried decoding divx5 with tmpgenc?

I noticed in your post you mentioned nothing of having dvix5 installed, though I am going to assume that you do. You may have a frozen frame or something though I am not sure why. If you have the disk space, try encoding it to huffy or mjpeg with vdub and see if you have the same problem.

I had the same problem of razzy with TmpgEnc and with Canopus ProCoder!
Use CCE to do the job!

Anyway try lo load and preview the .avi file with TMPGEnc ... you will see the film correctly but no encoding!

If you have actually tried it, can you play the .avs file? If not, the problem is with your DivX 5 installation. I would suggest reinstalling, perhaps uninstalling it first.

TMPG works with nearly every codec you have installed on your system. Try to install a new ver. of DiVX (5.03), maybe you should de-install the old one - then restart and it should work.
