View Full Version : XviD Build Incompatibilities

I encoded a bunch of video streams in XviD using uManiac's Stable build 23.02.2003.0010. I then upgrade to stable build 24.02.2003.1100, and video that was once DVD-quality now looks like total crap. It seems as though B-frames are not being displayed properly. I also tried playback using the DivX 5.03 decoder after doing a FourCC change. I reinstalled the older build and the playback is again perfect. I encoded the video using the following settings:

Motion Search 6
H.263 Quantization
XviD FourCC
VHQ 2
Chroma Motion/Chroma Optimizer
Quarterpel
B-frames (3,150,100) w/DX50 compat.

I know a few mods are quick to close threads with redundant concerns, so I searched the forums and couldn't find anything about this issue. If this has been mentioned before (and I am not adept with the search) please direct me to the appropriate thread. Thanks for your help. ^_^

Another playback problem.

Please try the latest Nic's DSF,

Is this not after the move from dev-api-3 to CVS head? I believe that your 'stable' builds are from what used to be the stable tree but is now the development tree. Someone else may be able to comfirm this, but I don't believe ANY stable build contains B-frames. And certainly no stable build contains chroma optimiser!

My builds always came from the dev-api-3 tree and now that has been merged into HEAD branch then thats where I make my builds from. As the dev-api-4 tree is a little too new just now ;)

Sorry Nic, I was referring to Animaniac's 'stable' builds that he had got from umaniac's site, not your builds. No slur on your CVSing abilities intended :)

Oh yes, of course you are, sorry my fault, not reading properly.

yeah .. last time Umaniac's dev build has been labeled 'stable' because of the changes in CVS tree ...

Yeah, I upgraded to Nic's latest build. Nic seems to be more on top of his game then uManiac. >.< uManiac also hasn't updated anything in a while. So all is well. Thanks for the explaination of the CVS tree.
