Hi Guys,

I have an issue with XVID AVI files where when converted the sound is out of sync. Everything looks fine when I have completed the DVD2SVCD process.

Any help is appreciated.

Here is the logfile.

Try a search. There are many out of sync threads. Maybe one of them can help you. There are just so many things to try that I really think it's best to try them and then if none of those threads help them we can explore it further.

you are making an ntsc source so i would sugest you to force it to pal so at the end the audio would be synced. thats what i do !!

Clixo

Tried changing to PAL but that didn't work.

Also it seems to be only XVIDS with the Fraunhofer IIS MPeg layer-3 Codec that I am having issues with.

I have also tried extracting the audio in Virtual Dub in Full Processing mode but I get the same issue.

I have installed the Fraunhofer IIS MPeg layer-3 Codec using Nimo50Build8.exe but still no difference. Is there anyway to check that I am using the Fraunhofer IIS MPeg layer-3 Codec?

JS:rolleyes:

you can check it with gspot

Clixo,

I have looked at it in GSpot and it says it is using MPEG Layer-3 Decoder-->Morgan Stream Switcher. How can I get it to use the Fraunhofer IIS MPeg layer-3 Codec.

If you're going to be processing this with DVD2SVCD there is no reason compress it to MP3, you can simply extract the wav in virtualDub, remux the wav audio and then feed that into D2S.

Hi Scott,

Ignore my ignorance but what do I use to remux the audio wav file? Also how do I get the audio wav file into DVD2SVCD?

Thanks

You can use Vdub to mux it back again.
After you have demuxed it load the sound free avi into Vdu then goto the sound dropdown on the top and goto wav. It should popup a place where you can select the wav file you have demuxed.
Then simply save it as another name.

Mark,

You say that one I have a sound free avi. How do I get that? I know how to get a WAV file but how do I get the sound free avi using VDub?

Thanks.

In Vdub goto the Audio dropdown and select No Sound.

Then save the Avi as a new name.

Mark,

Done what you said and the new larger avi has now got the sound out of sync....

Make sure direct stream processing is selected and not full processing.
The file may very well be larger. It shouldn't matter.

If you are still having problems I would recomend asking the XVID forum. You are starting to go beyond my knowledge level.

Lastly I hate to tell you that sometime files just can't be converted with DVD2SVCD or may not be worth the work to make it convert.

If I remember correctly from my Divx making days there is an app that would correct the sound if you made a divx with bad sound sync..it would stetch or shorten the sound according to needs.
The downside of this app was that if anybody tried to convert it to vcd (Svcd wasn't very popular then) the sound would be out of sync on the conversion.
I would presume (if there is such an app for Xvid) that is what has happened here...but I may be wrong.
