I've had this problem for a while now and have looked hi and low through old threads and have found no answer for this problem.

I have a Xvid move in 2 parts.
I believe the audio is ac3

When i Try and use VDub to strip out the audio in full processing mode it falls over with an error. when i do it via direct stream its fine.

Now i append the two Avis together and make audio to none. Then try and encode it.

Always falls over with write error.
No matter what i do it always falls over.
Sometimes right at the start. and on rare incidents have got it to do a little bit.

Any one got any sugestions on how to solve this problem?

your best bet for the video is to encode it as two separate m2v's and combine them at the authoring stage.

as for the audio, AC3 decoding i think is only done thru a hack for avi, and vdub falls over when trying to decode it, you should use direct stream copy to extract it.

I have tried to encode them seperatly. NO use does the same thing. I am now re encodinng them with VDub into a DivX and see if that helps. I'll keep you posted.

I'm not too keen with this idea as its means vet another loss in quality.

Can you go into a bit more details on how to do the AC3 encoding hack thing?

cheers

i mean the actual putting of ac3 into an AVI is a hack, its not really meant to go in there.
