Hi,
I just had this strange problem. When trying to generate VOBs for my scenarist project, I get an error message on PGC2 saying scenarist cannot find the audio file corresponding to stream 80. Still, it found thsi file without any problem before in the process and just complains at VOB generation time. Path is of course correct, file is here, really strange.
I used reauthorist to generate a scenarist script from my DIF4u files, everything went ok, it's just this strange message about a Very common file; nothing special here.
Did anybody already see this kind of thing ?
By the way, path to problem file is
D:\dvdbench\vts02\VTS__02_P02-80-160K-[29ms]-ch2English.AC3
so nothing unusual here.
Any help will be appreciated.

Maybe it's the length of the file name thats causing the error?

Thanks for suggesting, but this file was generated (like all others) but DoItfast4u and is named just like all others. Shouldn't be a problem. Name is VTS__02_P02-80-160K-[29ms]-ch2English.AC3.
Plus it was correctly found and imported at first in scenarist so I don't think this could be the cause
Thanks for trying to help though.

Hello Waldok,
Scenarist does not check the presence of the files upon opening a scenario. If it was imported by the user it just assumes it is still there. Only upon request it checks to verify its presence and validity. Therefore I am assuming that the file has either been changed after its insertion or it was problematic all the way from the beggining and just now that it is needed it is reproted as one.
I am sure that u r following my thought.

Oddysseus, thanks for your help, and don't worry, I'm following your Greek thought perfectly here. :D
Are you really sure about Scenarist not checking the files at import time ? Seems to me it takes some time for import to proceed, with a lot of disk activity, which would mean it gets all the assets from the disk before displaying them in the data/track window. Plus it seems to me (maybe wrong on this) that the information Scenarist displays in the bottom-center window must come from the assets file headers ?
Now I'll have a closer look to this. What is weird is that the path that is indicated as "invalid" is perfectly valid and corresponds to the exact location of the file on the drive. The file is here, I can open it with no prob with any other app, and filename is a "DIF4U standard" that caused no problem before. I also checked hard drive integrity in case, but no prob.
I hope I'll come back here with a "Dumb me, that was so obvious" in a few days, but for the moment, I don't have a clue.
Thanks guys for trying to help.

In a few occasions that I used Scenarist for a scenario, I came to a situation when a m2v had to be reencoded in order to fit a dvd-r. In these cases the scenario opened up and only when I looked in the file details, in the bottom center window, started to re-import and re-create the vif pointer file of his. That lead me to assume that once imported there is no need to revalidate again. In fact it doesn't even complain if u remove the file altogether.
Try to remove the vaf file and open up the scenario. Select the ac3 sream, goto the file details window click on the ... button and select itself again. Scenarist should recreate the vaf file. Perhaps it wasn't correctly created in the 1st place.
Any possibility for a virus infection?

Odysseus,
Can you believe that ? I just reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled all the apps and stuff (including antivirus and firewall cause I had a trojan before). So I was about to answer you that in no way there could be a virus problem and gues what ? now I just saw I'm infected again with Parite.a virus. That might explain Scenarist strange behaviour and some other weird stuff I saw since a few days.
Incredible ! I never had a single virus nor any trojan in months, and now, simply because I forgot to activate real time antivirus check for a few hours, I'm done. Gee. This parite.a is a real pain-in-the-tight-place to get rid of.
Hope I won't have to reformat ane reinstall everything again...
Thanks for allowing mo to detect this possible cause.

My procedure to avoid such unavoidable situations is the following
1. I partioned my c to 5gb and the rest of it
2. I installed a fresh system and all my needed apps
3. took a ghost image out of it
4. I replace the whole partition once a week.
This way I am having a fresh virus-free system to work with. Always clean, always ready to perform.

Mind you, that's exactly what I intended to do. After having clean reinstalled all the useful stuff, I was about to make a ghost image. But hey, I didn't have time so in the meantime I still did a few things on the PC.... Now I have todo it all again I guess...
Luckily, I had written down all the apps I installed in the correct order so it will be easier this time.
MAn, how could I deactivate realtime antivirus ? I don't know. I don't think the virus did it. I am the virus to myself :D

Thanks auenf for the info,
although I haven't run into any problem with 5gc as system partition I am planing to update the image any day now and I am going to resize it to 20gb.
