it is a lossless audio codec.

mp3 and ogg are lossy, it's a different type of codec.
you cannot compare apples with pears, there is no better ;) what you gain in quality, you lose in space

Lossless means that it sounds exactly like the original wav file. The size is huge compared to mp3. Like 5 times as big as mp3 and about half the original wav file size.
Use it only when you got tons on HD space and you don't share the files on internet anyway.

BTW : Its 'neferTiTi' and this is the name for TCMPs playlist technology ...

mpc (aka musepack, mp+, mpegplus) is a lossy audio format which sounds really sweet at bitrates of ~160 or above. It's even better than ogg at these bitrates. And of course much better than mp3. I use it to rip my cds.
It sounds realy, truely, very like the real thing.
