No one uses DVD2AVI for AVI encoding.
Just use it to make the project and extract the sound.

Video encoding happens then through AviSynth/VirtualDub or VFAPI/VirtualDub.

when i witch in RGB it work perfectly but it still doesn't work in YUV ... why ? (RGB encoding is slower than YUV)

your not making sence
what is the source movie - is it a dvd?

and if so why do u want to encooce with dvd2avi - nowdays its used as a sort of frameserver into avisyth then into Vdub.

the dvd2avi method is old and will not be updated (or it dont look like it :P).

and as for RGB DONT USE IT!!! (its obselete - not to mention MASSAVE)

the divx codec will create yuv12 output. so using RGB ur only making the input slower as RGB inputs are large

when i witch in RGB it work perfectly but it still doesn't work in YUV ... why ?

what do u mean by saying that, if u cant watch yuv12 u cant watch any divx movies(at all). is that what u mean???

im encoding dvd since a long time and i think newbies answer like "dvd2avi method is too old use gk its better" is not apropriate for my question ... its seems to be a bug , dvd2avi work in YUV for 2pass original but not for nthpass ... but it work in RVB ??? Why ?

ok do u rip the vobs to your hard drive then make an avi with dvd2avi.
because u use this method i assume you have been encoding dvd's for along time as i too used this before "Gknot" or "Vdub" were around.

But this program is old and not very efficient. because
1, the code is not being furthur developed (to my knowledge) and is not optermised.
2, you cant perform and sort of filtering(de-noising,smoothing,de-interlacing,subtitles,etc...)well u do get a cropper and a simple levels filter.
3,dont encode your audio with dvd2avi use besweet or other apps to create "abr" or "vrb" mp3, i know u can currently use the mp3 lame encoder but it is not that good at manipulating it(not to mention outdated).

i think you should read the readme.txt that comes with ur package of dvd2avi. i would recomend using Virtualdub - Vdub homepage - (http://www.virtualdub.com) and using dvd2avi as a frameserver. Also see this thread this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46851) for additional help

NOTE: if you cant find a solution you could ask for a bugfix. But I dout you will see one:p

Well, I use DVD2AVI to make AVI, better said only video part of it.

Reason for it is that so I have maximal encoding speed. It is good of course only for simple encoding, when only resize is needed (ver 1.76) . I always encode audio separatelly, or just extract AC3 from DVD.

DVD2AVI has primitive codec handling, but it is possible to encode with DivX 5.03 nth pass. Just uncheck 'update log file' and check 'do not prompt with error... '. Or even better use original 2-pass (uncheck 'Choose your profile' in profile tab for it.).

Using RGB for DivX is waste of time - it adds only unnecessary conversions of colorspace. So, always use YUV.

yes i have should have said to check 'do not prompt with error... '.:) But if you unclick 'update log file' N'th pass will not function. its up to you Satirik and how far you want to go quality wais for ur ripp. And yeah dvd2avi is good for ripping small clips. like the other day i used it to extrack a 1 min preview
