Greetings-
I have one Root menu under my VTS_1, Language folder. It has 6 buttons, a play all button, and the rest corresponds to chapter points , they are under my VTS_1, Title folder. I only have one Mp2 file and one ac3 file in my title folder.
My play all button plays the movie straight through.
What I need help with is, when I choose the other buttons in the menu, I would like it to just play that paticular chapter than return back to the menu..
I have found jwsmith's thread, Scenarist:Quick question about PGC's and Cells, the only confusion is that he has 9 separate video files and I have one,
First pgc Pre is linked to my title menu Pre button, under Vmg,language folder.
My title Menu's(which is also PGC_1) Post is linked to my root Menu.
The buttons in the Root menu Jumps to PartOfTitle in Vts (The corresponding chaper points). The chapter pts. have been assigned Previous and Next PGC links so it play all the way to to the end.
Again: What I need help with is, when I choose the other buttons in the menu, I would like it to just play that paticular chapter than return back to the menu..
How would I do that?
Thank you Doom9 and all Moderaters and Member For all the Info so Far.

You can use a great feture of scenarist
In your vts 1, create another title2, put the same track as your title1.
Open the simulation windows and in the cell command create the return to your menu.
Now for each cell of your track (that are end of chapter) activate the cell command1.
Scenarist only take the track one time for the bit bugeting. But you have a perfect play each time !!! It's the only authoring software that permit it !!!!!

Thank you Digital Video-
Can you please explain futher:
"Open the simulation windows and in the cell command create the return to your menu.
Now for each cell of your track (that are end of chapter) activate the cell command1."
In the cell command I only have 2 options:
0, no command
1, NOP
How do I get to option to return to my menu?
And I'm confused on how to activate the cell command1.
Thank you for your time-

NeverMind DigitalVideo-
I figured it out:
I went to 'PGC Commands' under 'edit object', choosed cell from the drop down list, unchecked 'none command' then chossed 'Jump to PGC in System Space, Jumped to my Root Menu Pgc.
Then went to Scenario Editor tab, double click Pgc under title_2,
selected Cell, in the Navigation tab 'cell command' I selected:
1. CallSS RSM=1, RootMenu.
I tried it out in the Simulation window and it worked..
Thank You Again for leading me in the right direction-

Say what? Wouldn't that duplicate the video program on the DVD, effectively doubling the size of your DVD?

Could someone explain it sloooowly for a newb like me? How to make it so that when a chapter is played it will return to the chapter menu?
And BTW; Apple DVD Studio Pro does this automatically. They call them stories in that program though.

What is it you don't understand exactly?
- I don't even have Scenarist but can easilly understand the instructions "digitalvideo" gave.

Take the chapter you want and drop it into the Title_2 folder. If your movie is in VTS01-Title_1, then drop your desired chapter in VTS01-Title_2. Then the next chapter into VTS01-Title_3, etc, etc. This way you get to use the same video footage over and over, without you making the overall DVD size any bigger.

What I didn't understand was that Scnearist would NOT duplicate the video files, the "bit bugeting" means that it will arrange the IFO so that it doesn't need two copies in the DVD.
Do I really need to make seperate Titles? Can't I just put them all in 1 PGC and then have the Cell command return to my chapter menu?

no, cause cell commands cause the video to turn to non-seamless. using titles is the only way to do it, that i know of. Leave your movie alone in the VTS01-Title_1 folder. From the asset window (in the lower right corner) select the desired chapter/cell and drop into title 2.

And you can also use the same video in VTS01-Title_3,VTS01-Title_4, ... I make a dvd where you can read the same 2 hours video in 9 way !!!

Yes, I found that out (after trying mux my files) but I don't understand what that means. So what if it's seamless? My video in Title_1 is seamless, and when I put the video in Title_2 with the cell commands those were non-seamless. So the PGC won't play unless it's seamless?
Thanks for helping me understand.
