no audio with tmpeg

hi

i downloaded the movie windtalkers. its an xvid-avi. when i tried to cenvert it into mpg for a video-cd, tmpeg did not find the audio-stream. i already had that problem so i put the movie into virtualdub and tried with the option:
save wave....
with the help of a guide found on this website. then came this message:

the requested audio compression is not compatible with the imput format. check that the sampling rate channel count of the input match those of the requested format.


and i dont know which audio i have in the movie. can someone help me?

i tried to watch it with the windows media player, which worked but without sound. after that, i installed the audiofilters from this site and now it doesnt even opens, but other movie work normally.

i only want to burn the movie as vcd. and can somebody tell me how know which audio-kind my video has?
