joining subtiltes

i have a 3 disk release (godfather 2) i joined all three avi's and then split into two parts with nadub i want to burn them onto 2 dvd disks but i want to do the same with the subtiltle files there is alot of italian in this movie how do i join and split the subtiltes ?:confused:

Hello eagles,

it looks pretty easy to me. There are probably a lot of ways how to do it. My way is this:

rename your original vobs to e.g.

VTS_xx_1.VOB
VTS_xx_2.VOB
VTS_xx_3.VOB
VTS_xx_4.VOB
...
...
...
VTS_xx_96.VOB
VTS_xx_97.VOB
VTS_xx_98.VOB
VTS_xx_99.VOB

then use SubRip to extract subtitles in format your authoring software requires. When I did this last time I used version 1.10 so I don´t know if this step is still needed. You have to check your renamed vobs in right order (because they´re processed in wrong way - VTS_xx_1.VOB -> VTS_xx_10.VOB -> ... -> VTS_xx_19.VOB -> VTS_xx_2.VOB
-> ...). So check vobs 1 to 9 and leave subrip make its job, do not save your subtitle file and then uncheck vobs 1-9 and check vobs 10-19 and contiune to end.

Now you have one ("3 dvd long") subtitle file.
I don´t know if there is a tool whis is able to this for you. But I guess you can do it manually: first delete all subtitles which belong to the second dvd and save your edited subtitle file. Then re-open your original file and cut off all subtitles from first dvd and make time correction in order to your first subtitle in second dvd starts at right time.
