View Full Version : Help! DivX 5.02 & Gknot - incomplete .avi ?

I'm trying to encode Bourne Identity, and have successfully extracted/decoded the .vobs (I think) using smartripper, as I have with every other one of a hundred plus movies.

I can watch the movie in file mode from the ripped vobs, no trouble. I set up Gknot to encode the whole thing to 1400mb with an AC3 soundtrack, scan through to the credits and set them to go at 20% and set it going, and three hours later I've got an incomplete movie ?

Have tried it three times now, seems to cut off at a random time between one hour and the end - have set it to do another movie, and it worked fine.

WTF? Can anyone suggest a possible cause?

Cheers,
Alex

Post your log. That will help us.

Try scrolling through your avs in VDub, and see if it locks up anywhere. It might be an invalid video stream (possibly error during ripping). Nothing else would really set-off the encoding process, unless there is an error somewhere in the video.

Thanks mate for your response, I feel a proper clown. Out of bloody disk space was the problem :embarrassed: (does that smiley exist here?)

Have 240gigs on this machine, nowhere near full, but there was an error misreporting a filesize to a massive exaggeration (bloody kazaa).
