View Full Version : Multiplexing DTS stream to VOB file

I have an audio DTS stream about 50 min. in length (it is not DTS wav, but pure DTS) that I'd like to multiplex to VOB file so that I can burn it to a CD (as miniDVD) and listen to it on my DVD player (my player does support miniDVD format). However, I don't want to have any MPEG video file, but only DTS stream, in my VOB. Is it possible to do this, perhaps by way of creating a dummy MPEG file? If it is, how do I do that, using preferably some of freeware programs available (I do not own any commercial authoring packages). I tried using a very small MPEG file with my DTS stream and multiplexing it with IfoEdit. It worked, except that my DVD player would read the length of my VOB file as 2 sec., rather than about 50 min., long (I'm assuming that MPEG portion of VOB is used for this purpose, or could it be that, while multiplexing, MPEG stream was placed before DTS stream, rather than running parallelly?) So is there any other method I could use to get a VOB file with DTS stream only embedded, and have my player read the full time length of the file.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The length of your video must be 50min as well. Depending on the authoring software you are using, you could just use a blank BMP and set up a "slideshow". Basically, nothing would be displayed onscreen but the entire length should play. Of course, you could also get creative and place something onscreen while the audio plays, having it change from time to time for effect. I don't know what authoring software you have available but if you're only using IFOedit (note: IFOedit is NOT real authoring software!) then you can't do this.

Thanks for your input - this definitely helps and makes things clearer. Now, the question is, which program would your recommend for this? Is there any freeware/shareware software out there that could do what you are suggesting, or do I need to go with some commercial package. Other than IfoEdit, I tried SonicFoundry DVD Architect, but this program has no support for DTS audio stream (although it does offer a slide show option), so I don't think I could do what I need to with it.

Thanks again!
