(NOTE: I initially posted in DVD authoring by accident because I then noticed the sticky saying if doitf4u was used to post here. I apologise.... Can a mod delete the post in the DVD authoring forum for me... thanks.)

Hi

I am trying to author Stigmata (R2) in Scenarist 2.7 (using the new Scenarist NT guide - with doitf4u 1.0.9). All is fine (importing assests, creating tracks etc..) and I can compile vobs provided I don't use subtitles.

When I add the subs I get the following error when building (it occurs on .bmp number 58)

'Can't encode. The bits compressed for one line is more than 1440. [Subpicture encoder]'

This does not stop the processes but it does stop later saying it can't find the .sp file in its subtitle cache)

What am I doing wrong????

I have tried doing the subs seperately in subrip and get the same error. EDIT: Occurs in all subs.

Help??

Kind Regards,
Andy

That does sound a bit odd! If you go to the data folder and drill down into that subpicture steam, you should be able to display the thumbnails of the individual subpictures. Does your .58 bitmap appear as a proper thumbnail or as an icon? (I'm thinking that maybe there is a problem with the source bitmap)

Thanks for the reply. It appears fine. Can load in Paintshop, it is the correct size etc... The only thought I had was the colours. The bmp background is blue, the text is black, the outer border around the text is white and the inner border is red (all the bmp's are the same). However, if I use subrip the background can be red or white.

What colour order is correct, and do I need to tell scenarist what colours I am using. According to the guide (lastest Scenarist NT), I only need to change the colours when creating a project, when SubRip was used. I have tried using the changes recommended with no success.
I have also tried changing the colours on the Default Settings options to what appears in the .bmp's with no success either.

And I was incorrect in my post above, no subtitle stream works. In each stream of about 370 bmps there are on average 4 'bad' bmps.

Kind Regards,
Andy
