update: March 20th
InstantCopy Hidden Settings 1.1.1 is out

InstantCopySettings.zip (http://www.mrbass.org/instantcopy/InstantCopySettings.zip)

Hidden Settings is written by The Mad Guy /The Exterminators and KMan is the translator/facilitator

InstantCopy Hidden Settings 1.0 by The Mad Guy (thanks KMan). I've tested this and it works as advertised....you may need VB6 Runtimes See screenshot for registry settings you can change.

V1.1.1 Cheers :) or less is more :)

c - the way the programm centers on the screen, should avoid placement behind taskbar
on 800x600

c - Interface size reduced again

c - Toyed 'round a bit more with the AboutDialog

c - the programm Icon, no artwork here, just to seperate it better from InstantCopy
so distinguishing them if e.g. on desktop will be a lot easier

a - another piece of art :) seriously, just an own icon for .ihs files

a - another check to determin correct installation of InstantCopy!
It came to my attention that Pinnacles Installer only writes your CDKey to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER (even when choosing installation for all users!), that also might
be the solution for most of the people who cant get the update to apply!
If using a MultiUserSystem you need to install the update under the same account
you initialy installed the Retail!

a - a verification that the settings have been written to the registry correctly
when you set them

a - .ihs filetypeassosiation, now you can simply double click .ihs files to open them
in InstantCopy (Hidden-) Settings Editor

a - instance control, only one copy of InstantCopy (Hidden-) Settings Editor will be
running, needed for .ihs file support, else you might end up with a bunch of instances

a - a button to start InstantCopy right out of InstantCopy (Hidden-) Settings Editor

a - Configuration to Systemmenu & a Configuration Dialog to set a few Settings for
InstantCopy (Hidden-) Settings Editor itself!
Just a few simple settings to avoid nagging the user with unwanted featurs :)

* Check .ihs File-Association on programmstart
disable if you dont want it (obvious :)

* Check Registrationstatus
diable to suppress the check & warning for not present CDKey (see above)

* Force smaller Interface even on high Resolutions
always use the 800x600 Interface ignoring actual screen resolution
(takes effect the next time you start InstantCopy (Hidden-) Settings Editor)

* Confirm succesful loading / saving of the settings
disable to suppress messages after succesful load/save (only errors get reported)

* Confirm succesful writting to the Registry
disable to suppress message after succesful setting the RegistryTweaks

* Automaticaly set settings after loading
directly submit the settings to the registry after loading from file

* Automaticaly set Default / Recommended settings
directly submit the settings to the registry after clicking Default / Recommended
Basicly making it a single click operation (if you're as lazy as me :)

* Reset FirstRecommendedClick-Flag
For those of you (if any:) who want to read my bulls**t on the recommended settings
more then once :)

a - my own sliders, far from perfect, mostly some event probs with doubleclick events (well
it's just VB) , but they suffice their purpose! Controling them is just the same as with
those from commoncontrols, except direct positioning is handled far more suited.

r - dumped the comdlg32.ocx, going native!

r - dumped the mscomctl.ocx, replaced sliders by scrollbars, don't look as good, but offer the
same functionality! no more :
"Component '********.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered" messages!
now all you need really are the VB6Runtimes!

r - dumped the scrollbars again, they were to ugly and more important to unclearly 'cause they
had diffrent thumb sizes caused by the diffrent scales and didnt match the progress values

Should we just set it to your recommended settings and go with it? Or do you suggest some different settings to max out the quality of the video (size of main movie)...

Hi,

Component 'MSCOMCTL.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid

http://www.harmonyhollow.net/download/mscomctl.exe

Point it to your system folder, then open a command prompt (cmd.exe 2k/XP) and type regsvr32 yoursystempathhere/mscomctl.ocx.

new version is out 1.1.0
What did you say..can't hear...oh the changelog...gotcha

InstantCopy (Hidden-) Settings Editor

a - added
f - fixed
r - removed
c - changed

V1.1.0 More freedom to play

c - changed the lower boundery of the sliders from 1 to 0, this gives
you more room to play with the settings, to get closer to the 4.37,
but might produce sideeffects in IC (Unknown sofar!)

c - changed the upper boundery of the DVDAnalyzeMinAbs-Slider to 2.5GB, in most
cases this is about half the movie on a DVD, currently i dont see pretty
much sense in higher values
('cause of the large Scale now, you might need to use the cursor keys to fine tune
this setting

c - some descriptions to make them more precise and correct my bad
english (Thnx to MrBass :)

c - since the program became quite popular, the about is now more "stylish",
which was only the sideeffect for making the link clickable

a - Loading and Saving of Settings to a file.
Some seem to be afraid to play around with the settings 'cause they cant remember,
or dont want to write down each time, what settings they used before.
Now you can save your settings to a file, and load it again at anytime needed.
You can even share them with other users of this program :)
Note: Loading only loads the Settings in the app, you still need to press the
Set Settings button to make them active!

And remember the Default button always brings you back to the Pinnacle Standard
Settings for all tweakable values,

a - detection for the InstantCopy Version, to inform the User if or which
Settings apply for his Version
(also display the Version in the Main Dialog)

a - detection if InstantCopy is currently running to alert User that
Settings might not be valid until InstantCopy is restarted

a - detection for the DemoFlag of InstantCopy to determin if a Demo Version
of InstantCopy is used and Inform the User the Settings only work with
the Retail (this Flag also might still be set if you upgraded from the Demo
to the Retail without uninstalling the Demo. This can cause the
"a full installation of IC could notbe found" Message when trying to apply
the Update to 7.0.1.114)

a - a short note (only shown once) when using the Recommended Button, just to make
it a little bit clearer what to expect from these settings, also added a little
explanation for the 3 sliders to that note, a VERY simple explanation that is :)

a - MS conform Version Information, not that it matters, but gives it a more professional
touch

f - small bug (actually only a twist) in the TabOrder

V1.0.1 little modifications

a - dynamic interface to satisfy the needs of the 800x600 community
(No! 640x480 wont be supported)
a - since now a public toy, about dialog added to system menu

Good work Mad Guy,

Now it has the option to save the settings, maybe we can set up a place where people can send the files to, so that other people can benefit straight away from others experience.

Thanks.

Just tried to run the version 1.1.0 of InstantCopySettings and now I'm getting an error message:
"Component 'COMDLG32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid". I've run Ver. 1.0 and 1.0.1 with no problems. Any ideas, suggestions etc.?

Download the file from here:

http://www.xeqt.com/software/comocx.zip

Unzip into your system32 directory, open a command prompt and type regsvr32 comdlg32.ocx.

Mrbass,
Maybe I'm missing something, but where in this thread does it mention COMDLG32.OCX??

Thanks very much for that link!

maybe now that you can save settings to a file, we could start place where people could grab specific settings files for certain movies (popular ones, such as Star Wars or Lord of the Rings) to get as close to 4.37 as possible?

kudos for the great program.

Folks,

I certainly still miss something, and cannot get it started.

First I have installed vbrun60-setup.exe, d/l-ed from forum's PDITOOL section as mrbass recommended in his tread-starter post. Than I have d/l-ed, installed and registered MSCOMCTL.OCX, COMCTL32.OCX and COMDLG32.OCX, as recommended by int 21h later in the thread - also rebooted after each steps.

Now, I got this fancy error message in German, which - I guess - says that COMMDLG32.OCX cannot be loaded, and mentions someting about versions.

Anyone with VB6 experience, how to get this solved? (OS is W2k)

Thanks in advance

dumb
