20 to 30 ... I buy DVD-PRO in bulk, although I'm reading some bad reviews about it and personal experience seems to indicate that some of it might be true (unreadable after 6 months).

I average about 100 Ritek (printables) every month. I usually buy once a month, but decided to buy 200 of them last month when I saw the price rise coming.

hey gooki you sure buy a lot!!

i can't believe how fast the ritek's went up in price. that sucks. i hope they come down again soon. i think i'll hold off on buying another 100 pack for now.

Yeah I'm glad I got my riteks while the price was good.

$0.95 each for the first 200, $0.85 for the 500 pack.

The discs above will probably last our company about a three months. Lol if I used that many discs for personal use I'd have no life.

So gooki, you're saying you "backuped" almost 1830 movies you own, only in one month time...Well that's 65 backups per day, which is 2.7 backups per hour...Gee, you guy also have 1830 computers home or what ? I'm extremely...impressed (or was it doubtful...) :p

As far as I am concerned, and considering I also have other things to do in life like spending time with family and friends, I would say I've used about 10 DVD-Rs in February. Shame on me... :D

Waldok please read all the thread before you make accusation. I'd also like it if you didn't make presumptions about what our company does, and try to make me out to be a liar, because the figures stated above by myself is true.

Well gooki,

I'm really sorry, as I missed your second post and based my "ironical" answer on your first one, which really looked "unbelievable".
Now as the initial question was about how many DVD-R people usually burn through a month, I presumed it was about"individuals" and not companies.

Sorry for that.
Hope you won't mind too much.

Not a worry waldok.

Personally I go through about 50 a month. Movies, data etc.

Is everyone using Riteks? I'm on Princo (DVDPro) but seriously considering changing media.

Princo's got a really bad reputation....that's possibly why they're still cheap while the Ritek's are going up in price.

klona: ive been using Ritek's but since the price jump i am trying
Princo. No failed burns yet, thankfully.

Stupid question: how can i tell if i got "New princo (bulkpaqG4 2X)"?

Also: is it true that some princo disks can not be read after a few months? that would stink :(

I'm a lame backuper :p

I order 200 Ritek, 100 Verbatim a week, and 200-300 cheapies (Princo, LD, etc) a month.

I believe they have a TDK media info code viewable with ADVInfo.

Take care of 'em, and keep them away from heat and they should last.

I have many year+ old Princo that I retrieve data from everyday. My girlfriend just watched the Nightmare On Elm Street collection which was backed up 10 months ago. I did have a couple of bad discs that was due to poor storage and handling.

The 1x do have problems with the outer edge, so I kept all of mine at under 4gig. A few DVD players may give playback problems (skipping and pixels after 10 or so minutes) but they work fine with Apex, PS2, and a few others. But not some Toshiba, or older Philips. Get a small pack to try out. I personally don't distribute cheapies, but do use them for myself.
