I am currently trying to backup The Goonies and am wondering if anyone else has done this with this DVD.

It seems to have exactly the same PGC for PGC 1 and PGC 2 - the time is the same, but some of the actual VOBIDs are different and some are the same. Then there are PGC's 3 - 6 that are completely different.

I would rather not have to do this by VOBID because the amount of files that have been created from the one VTS are a lot. I haven't counted them, but I think it is more than 20.

I think that some of the extras were included in this VTS. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Should I just give up on a perfect backup and just make a stream of it and just backup the main movie?

Thanks for any advice.

Please don't give up and butcher your DVD - you'll regret it in the long run.

The DVD structure you see here is to support the "audio commentary with hidden video treasures" - so at the very least it's seamless branching. I don't have the DVD to check, but it may be button-over-video as well (which is a lot more time consuming to reauthor). Confirm this by playing that audio commentary version and see what happens.

To reauthor this properly, you will need to rip it by vobid. It may be a bit daunting at first but the effort will be worth it. Plus next time you need to do it, it will be so much easier from the experience.
