I want to use menues in my SVCDs and found that VCDEasy i.e. produces only smoothed still frames with a different color and contrast.
So I produced MPEG2 stills manually with CCE 2.50:
1. Using the AVISynth-script for the title picture (generated by DVD2SVCD) to load the bitmap into CCE and enconding with standart settings.
2. Multiplexing the resulted video stream in bbMpeg without audio using the title picture settings .
3. As the generated program stream is a motion video, replacing several (66) strings from E0 to E1 in a Hex-editor (searched for 01 EO 09 and 01 E0 05). I found this by comparing this file with a file that ran through DVD2SVCD.
Now the questions:
1. Does DVD2SVCD edit the multiplexed streams too, or have I missed a setting in bbMpeg or CCE?
2. DVD2SVCD (or CCE) produces stills with 2 frames: 1 I- and 1 P-frame. VCDEasy generated stills consist of 2 I-frames and there is only one I-frame in Ulead Powertools generated stills. Is there no specification for a MPEG2-still frame?
3. The bitrate DVD2SVCD uses for the stills is much too low for a good picture (704x576). I found a bitrate of above 9000 kbps to produce satisfying results. Is this bitrate to high for some DVD-SAs?
4. Is there an application that can display a still frame without making a SVCD or Image?
