I just encoded Armageddon to 2 CDs using Koepi's newest XviD build. Subtitles where converted to srt using SubRip1.15. I then muxed the streams together using OggMux 0.942. When I played back the file the subtitles were all messed up. I can still see but am unable to read them. They're extremely distorted...
I tried the following:
-load the srt file with ffdshow (displayed correctly)
So it seems to be an ogm problem
-Same movie, no sound, same subs
-Same movie, no sound, other subs (die hard 3)
Both tries resulted in the same weird problem.
-Other movie (DH3), no sound, same subs This one actually worked fine. Subtitles were displayed correctly.
Now, it seems to be related to the AVI-file. So I thought it might be clever to encode the movie again, no fancy stuff this time. Muxed it all together, but still experienced that strange subtitle playback problem...
Since I encoded the other movie, Die Hard 3, a day before and might have changed some settings, I encoded Die Hard 3 again, using the exact same settings that I used in the second Armageddon rip (which didn't work). The result was just fine! So the problem...
...is not related to the subtitle files
...is not related to the sound
...is not related to the XviD settings
...is not related to the OggMux version (tried 0.94, too)
...is not related to ffdshow (,is it?)
...seems to be related to the source???!!!
I use srt subtitles in every single rip if possible and have never experienced any problems with them. Does anyone know what's going on?? What impact does the video have on how the subtitles are displayed??

I guess it may be a problem with SubtiDS (filter in charge of displaying subtitles in OGM files).
Is your problem with subtitles that the bottom half-part of them appear on bottom of the screen and the other half appears on top of the screens (with some clipping) ? If so this is a well-known problem that sometimes appears with SubtiDS.
Try changing the ratio in the SubtiDS filter properties (and reopen your file so that the settings are applied), or try using only DVobSub.

I'll try the things you suggested me to do, but the problem is not that the bottom half-part of them appear on bottom of the screen and the other half appears on top of the screens (with some clipping), but they're not readable at all. It's just white gibberish, I can't read a single letter. They still appear at the right time though. If someone's talking a lot, you can see a more of the gibberish, while ther's only little of it when the subs are supposed to display only one word for example.

I had the same problem, but I deleted SubTitDS and installed DVobSub and now the subtitles are working OK.

Sorry for my english.

It worked with DVobSub only installed. Thanx a lot Ranma-kun, your english is just fine!
