Thanks to the answers htc10825 gave me in my previous thread (size problem when burning with Nero), I realized there is nothing wrong with the size of the mpeg i'm trying to burn.

Being this the case, I have another problem though.

The SVCD is about 650 Mb (encoded with TPMG).

The SVCD has perfect quality, until the last 3 minutes!! The last 3 minutes i have very choppy playback when I play the cd in my dvd-player.
When I play the original mpeg-file of 650 Mb on my pc, there is no problem (very fluent playback in WMP): so I don't play the CD then, but the mpeg-file on my harddrive.

Could this be caused by the burning process, the media on which i burn, something else? I use Nero and Maxell CD-RW's.

thanks for sharing your wisdom,
lalala

Actually this could be caused by a number of problems that you will see with your standalone dvd player but not your computer dvd player.

1. For some reason the bitrate goes too high at this point in the file for your dvd player to handle.

2. The media you use is not compatible with your player (probably not your problem since it only happens once at the end)

3. You could try to use a different burning program.

4. You could try to reduce your burn speed to the lowest possible speed.

5. You could try to burn to cdr instead. Some players have problems with cdrw

Have you successfully burned a svcd onto this media before and played it on your stand alone?

I don't know if any of these will help.

Also if you had your player for awhile, cleaning it might help. My GE player started doing that to some of my svcds about a month ago, it would play fine up until near the end and start skipping, getting jerky, and one time stopped prematurely. But I got a dvd cleaning disc from my friend, popped it in, and havent had a skipping prob since.
