Hi,
I want to encode XviD which DivX-compatible (which can be played with DivX). Because I know some Mac-Users who want to watch my movies, but I don't know if the can look DivX.
My Settings would be: (Most of the movies should be 1-cd-rips)
2pass
with b-frames
with GMC (should I use this feature?)
1/4-pixel ((should I use this feature?)
Thx in advance

hi,
if you want divx5 compatibility
- set FourCC to DX50
- use h.263 matrix
- don't use gmc
- don't use qpel (1/4 pixel)
- don't set max bframes higher than 1
- make sure that divx b-vop compatibility is checked
regards,
zulu
And check "packed bitstream".

Check DVX5 compatibility and don't use gmc or qpel. You can use 3 for b-frames and chroma motion.

Actually DivX5 doesn't allow consecutive B-frames.

Hi, i'm not sure but i think you should tell your friends to try VideoLan Client for Xvid playbacking on Mac (Os X only) http://www.videolan.org/
This good piece of software is available for any OS
It's free and...french :)

Also, consecutive b-frames use up too much CPU power. P4 owners wouldn't care, but it is ugly when your 600mhz box can't play 640x clips :-)

Thanx a lot. I'll say them that the sould use VideoLan to look the XviD-files. Should I use 1/4-pixel, GMC, LumiMasking? What are your experiences?
