demuxing dts in avi

i've been reading up on dts a lot and it seems that most people are using dvd2avi for demuxing... anyway when i tried to demux it i just got the 3 additional ac3 files ... no dts file in sight! DVD is resident evil special edition region 2.

hope i haven't missed anything ...

DTS isn't supported in DVD2AVI.

If you follow Wilbert's guide to DTS in AVI (http://www.geocities.com/wilbertdijkhof/) He recommends using a demuxing capable ripper, like SmartRipper or vStrip (and I think DVDDecrypter will work too, but I usually makes ISO rips with that one.) damn... so there is no way to get the dts out of .vob files on your hard disk?!?
the dts in avi guide will be pretty useless as i only want to use them to convert to mp3 rather than the 5.1 ac3 sound as it is supposed to have superior source quality!

[edit1:] i've just read in wilbert's guide that you can demux a dts stream with dvd2avi 1.77.3 ... gonna check this out now...

[edit2] well i don't find it... so i'm just going to stay with the ac3 tracks... they're good enough in my opinion anyway... was just keen on trying something new!

vStrip produces invalid dts tracks (as noted in the guide).

Most movies don't have dts tracks. But if they do, there's no way to convert them to AC3/MP3. Get a movie which has a dts track (it is always stated on the box if there's a dts track on the dvd).

well i know my movie HAS got dts tracks... it's the REsident Evil Special Edition (region 2) with english and german dts es discrete 6.1 and english and german dolby digital 5.1 sourround...
anyway i've ripped the movie already and burnt it to cd and since i'm not going to mux a 700 - 1500 kbit stream into my avi i'm just gonna leave it on that!
