I bought a dvd writer recently (a Pioneer A05) and I wanted to know if it was possible to burn a CD image (like .bin files) on a DVD.
Is there a tool to convert these images onto .gi files ?
Thanks in advance.

Write the bin file to CDRW.
Then use Primo DVD to read the CDRW, and make a .gi file. Then write the .gi file to DVD-R.
This works fine for xbox games, etc.

If it is a RAW file, and if it must be one due to copy protection issues, it won't work, and if it is a plain Mode 1 image file, then you can burn it to DVD without steps inbetween, for example with cdrecord-prodvd

Interesting question. I have cd image i'd like to put on dvd because my ps2 makes a hell of noise when playing cdr. I've tried the primo suggestion but it keeps coming up with 'incompatible with disc' message

Then you certainly have a RAW image. Could you post the exact file size of that image file (in bytes)?

I tried the first suggestion and I had the same message as -=ViBeZ=-
I can give you the exact size of my file : 715_276_344 bytes.

That is neither a plain Mode 1 file nor a RAW image, so it must contain some overhead (format description for the burning app etc).

Heres the size on disc ok mine .gi file
553 MB (580,263,936 bytes)

That could be a plain Mode 1 file.
However, if the overhead of the GI file format is a multiple of 2048, then it isn't...
You should burn that image to a CD, then use a better program to create an image file from it (dvd decryptor, cdrecord) and record it back to dvd.
There is no reason why this should not work, except for stupid burning programs which intentionally inhibit this

Ok I got it burned using cdrecord but it wont work in my chipped ps2. I think because it's a mode2 raw image. I may of burned it wrong, but i'm not sure....

If it was a mode 2 image, then it cannot work. Mode 2 does not even exist for dvd

i'm 99% sure it was mode 2. I think that is the standard mode needed to backup a ps2 cdrom to keep it the same as the original & still keep the copy protection.
Thanx for the help anyway
