Hi all, really newbie here.
Before i start excuse for my poor english, hope i'll be clear in my post.

In these 5 days before posting I have read a lot in this forum but no topic had a response to my question.

I've tried to backup 2 dvd's without change anything in dvd2svcd and the result was quite good.
Encoder used: tmpgenc latest version (from tmpgenc.net)

What's the problem? The video has some blocks (is this the right word?)

Now the question: what encoder use? cce or tmpgenc?
I'm not asking settings, just what encoder can perform the best conversion.
i've used the search button in top of the page but no answer found.
I've read guides but i don't know a lot of things.

another question what's cq (costant bitrate)? what if i use a fixed value? or (cce) cbr/multipass vbr?

Please there's a lot of fog in my mind help me to understand.

Any links/guide/info (but hope really clear) are appreciated.

tnx

"Blocks" is propably the right word. At least I understand what you mean :)
Answering your question about the "best" encoder is quite difficult. I find TMPGenc better because sharper.
But if you want to get less blocks I'd give CCE a try.
It is less sharp than TMPGenc but therefore showing also less artefacts (blocks).

Anyways, if watched on a TV, the blocks are hardly noticable (compared to normal screen).

CQ is Constant Quality and therefore some kind of VBR, where the encoder tries to keep the quality constant over the whole movie.
