Does anybody know if tobis waldvogel still works on his directshow filters? I guess there is still a lot of work to do :D
I know that he joined xiph but did he released anything since then (updated ogg/ogm specs, oggds filters, etc...)?
and no mentioning of matroska or mcf in this thread plz.!

Sorry, but why would he bother continue developing OggDS filters now that they will release Matroska? ;)
Who knows he is helping matroska now!! hehehehe

Some people really can't read!! SO AGAIN, FOR ALL PEOPLE NEEDING GLASSES: NO MATROSKA IN HERE!!
I'm a OGM user & lover, too, I won't switch to any other container, moreover since the team behind these is splitting up into more & more separate groups creating their own standards (MCF, matroska...)
OGM is the way to go!

Calm down mate. Its the moderators job to interfere here if he feels action is required, not yours.
I'm a OGM user & lover, too,
I am also using OGM
I won't switch to any other container
nobody will force you to do so
moreover since the team behind these is splitting up into more & more separate groups creating their own standards (MCF, matroska...)
This is simply bullshit ! Stop spreading rumours like this, its complete nonsense.
OGM is the way to go ! Raist

Rash, thanks for your enthusiasm about our project, but please please stop making posts like this. It will lead to nothing else but flames and bashing, as many people who are using OGM actively today, and have a complete collection of OGM movies at home, will fear about future compatibility of their movies. OGM has a future, it lies in the cooperation between Tobias and Xiph, and there is still a certain chance that they can come up with an intelligent, future proof solution, allowing OGM playback in the official oggfile release for Theora ... lets try to be patient here and see what the future brings. I fear that Monty had to make a few compromises with respect to the use Of Theora on Windows environments, and to be honest IMHO he didnt really prove to be wanting to do this in the past, but we'll see.
Who knows he is helping matroska now!! hehehehe
In fact, i was sending at least 2 emails to Tobias inviting him to join our team. They were not answered, but it seems that Tobias had serious issues with his mailbox lately, as even Emmet Plant's ( Xiph CEO ) emails were not answered, nor were those of mayn other users and developers.
As you are all aware, the matroska Team has very good contact with the CoreCodec Team, namely Blacksun and Betaboy, and they have ( had ) excellent contact with Tobias ever since. Lets see what the future brings, it seems that for the time being Tobias is not available for any kind of video related development work, at least i cant see him in the official Xiph logs as an active contributor to Theora, and also Blacksun reported that its pretty hard to get hold of him lately.
In any case, Tobias is always welcome in our team if he wanted to join, and we would even promise him to make our parser OGM playback compatible if he could consider doing so. Tobias said very often that, when mkaing OGM, he had no intentions that it would get such a wide spread use at all, all he wanted to have was a working format for himself, so he could capture German TV shows on his PC at home ( he is living and working in Spain ), using any VfW codec and Vorbis for audio .... with some luck we hope to have capturing into matroska from VirtualdubMod until middle of this year, so he could switch to matroska if he wanted to, at least for his personal use ....

Well, I ad a lot of contacts with Tobias and we helped each other a lot on the coding side. He tends to disappear for a month, then he is back, then he disappear again.
But since he joined Xiph I have no news at all from Tobias, he didn't send me any development version. Our last discussion was when we discussed about a way to fix the problem with multiple audio MEDIA_TYPE and I introduced him to Emmett Plant.
I'd love to see a new version of the OggDS because it's buggy as hell and I have to add a lot of hacks to get ride of some bugs.
We'll see...

Hey, hey! Calm down people! I didn't say that to start flames around here.
I'm also a OGM user and I believe that Tobias made a great job with the OGM parser.
But, in a way, I see the matroska container as what I'm going to use next. So it would be really great, for example, if Xiph's future codecs were available with it. That's why I mentioned Tobias could be working with matroska guys.
Anyway, no flaming nor bashing here!
