Thanks for the link BoNz1. This is a real Cool Tool !!!!
I did some tests on my suspect CDRs and to my surprise, although they were branded TDK, the CDR Identifier program picks them as CMC Magnetics. Disappointing, as you think you are buying a quality name like TDK and get CMC Magnetcis, which I believe are Less than Best? Any comments on CMC CDRs?? Some other CDRs I have here are no-name brand, Matt gold on top and shiny gold under. These were identified as Digital Storage Technology.
Interesting to note that some were Short Strategy dye (Phthalocyanine) and others were Long Strategy dye (Cyanine). Does anyone know what Short or Long means?? Perhaps some last longer than the short ones (too easy)??
Other comments on good and bad media are welcome. I am finding some of my early VCDs on CMC CDRs are starting to pixelate when playing

Here's a link (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=35412&perpage=20&highlight=media%20identifier&pagenumber=/) authored by OvERaCiD23 in which the members discuss various brands of CD-R's. It's a multiple page thread and contains some very good information. If you haven't started using it yet, the search button at the top of the page is a wonderful resource, everything in the forums can be located with it. Good luck!
