Been away for two months and at the time the best option was dvdXcopy...now it seems there are solutions like IC or DVD95copy that allow for DVD9 to DVD5 copying while preserving the menus...
Can anyone give a brief overview/opinion?
thanks!

hehehehehe
12) How NOT to post on this forum:
5 minutes after your initial post you reply to your own post writing something like "Why is nobody helping me? I'm sure you know the answer".
Once somebody replies to your thread but doesn't give you exactly the answer you've been expecting you insult them.
Do not ask "what's best" because this question cannot be answered objectively. Each and everyone has their own view about what's best in a certain area. The best is what works best for you!
anyway.
well... if u wanna preserve menu and the rest in a fast way, I can suggest IC7.
Nice speed and nice quality.
If u wanna play "a little bit more" u can use CCE and some ifo toolz to encode and put togheter the whole dvd parts :)
my 2€cents opinion :)

Instant Copy 7 : Great DVD9 to DVD5 backup tool, speed average at around 3 to 5 hours per backup (time increases depending on size of DVD and power of PC). Some later PCs may be able to transcode in less then 3 hours with IC. Allows you to select what parts get what percentage of quality using a slider. Also has built in burner. Can NOT copy copyright DVDs, you need to use DVD Decrypter to rip the DVD first. But it is real simple.
DVD95Copy : Similar to IC, except this transcodes quicker. Does not currently have built in burner. Can not currently choose which extras you give quality priority to.
Personal Overall Verdict....
If you want speed and are not bothered by the fact you can't choose quality per extra or burn direct, then DV95Copy may be your best bet. If you want a nearly all-in-one package with more flexible control, but are prepared to wait a little longer, then Instant Copy 7 is more your bet. With constant updates you are probably safe to go with either really as no doubt by the summer both will be near indentical to each other.

So no change since March? That's not saying anything about the recently released CloneDVD

The verdict was to let this violation of rule #12 thread die. Try the programs yourself, they are all either free or have trial versions.
