Just a quick process for authoring The Ring region 1. May not be the best but may save some other ppl new to authoring some time.
You are going to keep the whole disc except for the non-english audio, DTS track, 2channel, and non-english subs in VTS_1.
Rip the VTS_1 video, audio, and subs from your DVD or disc image using DoItFast4U.
Re-encode using CCE Multipass at 3350 average min 2000 max 8800 (complained at 9000 in scenarist for some reason - might just be me). This netted me an MPV of 2,825,191KB.
Pulldown, re-compile in your favorite authoring program (excluding the stuff mentioned at the beginning), readd the files to all the others on the disc, and you should have a full backup with about 50 megs to spare on the disc.
