One can read again and again that there are some templates for TMPGenc which enables you to encode a movie of up to 2 hours to one CD (like KVCD)
When you look at them, you find that they all use the CQ method.
Well, since DVD2 SVCD supports this option, I made some tries.
I don't want to discuss the vbr against CQ subject again, because this is done already.
But I would like to share experiences made with the file prediction, because this seems the most difficult point with the CQ method.
My experiences where very strange:
for instance DVD2SVCD should calculate to get an movie of about 1 1/2 hour to one CD. My first effort (Plan 9 from outer space, DVB recording) result in a calculated CQ >100, at the end, I got two files and had to use 2 CDs.
Well, second try, a movie of 1:30 again, same try, I stopped DVD2SVCD as the actual calculated CQ was -22 (!) (Benny & John, source was a DVD).
Question: Are there people out there, who made similar experiences?
Are there people out there, where the file prediction works? Can they describe, which settings they used (mpeg1 or mpgeg2, special matrix etc?)
I found nothing about this with the search function, if I should, help me with a link.
