View Full Version : Menu pauses / hesitation

I haven't found many threads that deal with this, possible I am just looking up the wrong words but here goes. I am able to encode and reauthor my DVDs very well with no problems that I can't work through but the thing that is annoying me alot is that my menu systems have a horribly annoying hesitation in between switchovers.

If menu 1 is linked to go to menu 2, there is a a second or two long pause between menu 1 ending and menu 2 starting. When you have a brief cutscene that links the two menus this pause becomes all the more apparent since there are now two such pauses so close together, that at times are longer than the cutscene. I am just looking for a way to cut down on the length of the pause. This is most noticeable in my set-top DVD player with reauthored DVDs, the originals do not have such a long pause, in fact the pauses of originals are nearly non-noticeable.

I use maestro most times scenarist sometimes, so any advice or ideas would be helpful.
Thnx

If you're making a full backup, then just use the original menu and this is not an issue. If you're making your own menus, you will simply have to be creative to reduce the noticeability of this anomaly. There is no "getting around" it. It's just a product of the amount of time it takes the player to track from one clip to the next.

iirc, standalones seek much faster on manuf. discs than burnt discs.
