Howto Breakup VCD dual channel audio for use with DVD

I have seen varies question being post here in the past about regarding how to split VCD that have dual audio into 2 single audio for use with DVD, but I not seen anyone that's been able to give a good solution beside telling what programs might be able to do it.

Here's the situation, as some know that there's vcd out there that have a left and right channel audio of 2 language, which is fine as long as it say in the vcd format. I want to be able to split the 2 audio up into single track.

Someone has mention using besplit. Have tried, but it requires the files to be in wav format.

I can demux the audio and video, but don't know what to do with the audio (mp2) file. Need/Want to know anyone that has done this for this exact purpose. As I really want to be able to take a bunch of vcd and put to into DVDs.

If possible, I would like to keep them in mp2 format with converting them to something else and then back.


As for the video, mpeg1 works fine as half D1 for DVD.

in most good audio editing programs, it will let you input a wav (you can use besweet to decode the m1a to a wav) and save it to 2 mono .wavs. while you are in there, you will want to upsample the audio to 48khz as well.

personally i use WaveLab, but its not really a consumer application and im not familiar with the operation of any of the consumer audio apps.

So, there's really no program that can just process the mpeg audio without having to convert it to wav first. Was trying to save a step if possible.

Guess, I'll use that method for now.
