Yo! I have a problem with the movie The musketeers. After svcd is created, and i checked the movie i found a problem everything is synchronized till almost the end of first cd it comes the scene when the picture is pumping up and down for 3 seconds, then Audio is out of synch from video, and its out till the end of the movie.
Heres what i discovered: on svcd its out of synch, but when i plays vob file with that scene pumping up and down its also pumping for 3 seconds but audio is synched with video while bbmpeg muxed mpeg or cd svcd is start out of synch after that scene.
I thought that dvd is scrathed and thats why i thought the scene pumping but no,i borrowed another dvd (the same movie) but again the same problem on the same scene.
Question: any ideas of fixing this problem with audio synch ?

Yo! no log no can help.
Yo! Yo! Did you use any other ripper, but the included rippers?
If you did please do the whole thing over using only internal routines.

Taken from the Q+A, please read it.
Q24: My audio and video are not synced
A: This rarely happens. The most common reason is when a DVD have been ripped with an external ripper (like Smartripper). Always us internal routines when possible. (In the new DVD2SVCD versions, you can select "Rip Only" and convert the ripped vob files later). Another reason could be that a trailer is as the first chapter on the DVD (like Swordfish).
Internal routines is a way to rip the DVD. Look at the tab DVD Rip. Just check Rip DVD and select Internal Routines as what to use. Vstrip is included as a backup.
DVD Decrypter is by far the worst ripper to use with DVD2SVCD. It causes so many issues at random. Some never have an issue while others have nothing, but problems.

yo internal routings dosent help. same problem. But i guess is not coz of the ripping but DVD is screwed up,however when pumping comes on DVD dvd player or powerdvd can control it but dvd2svcd cant coz when pumping comes audio is going ahead while video is pumping.
However now i recieve a msg cant create bin/cue ... but its fixable for me, however now is useless..

i can make bin cue manually. its not a problem. the problem is about picture pumping up and down on the scene and then dvd2svcd dont recognize it to stop audio while video is pumiping while powerdvd does recognize. And thats why audio becomes out of synch. Also about internal routines question and answers is not really professional cause mentioning swordfish trailer problem with smartripper. its very easy to fix it with smartripper, just need to do stream processing and exclude trailer video and just remaining movie stream and its fixed.
However i wanted to ask wheres the difference between smartripper and internal routines, and does anyone have a clue how to fix audio of synch without doing manual modification in virtual dub and recording silent audio on the beginning and to move subtitles for that time so everything become synched. Ive solved all that and created synched movie but wanted to know anyone know other easier way ?

However i wanted to ask wheres the difference between smartripper and internal routinesQuick and dirty answer as I don't know all the differences.
1. Internal Routines written specifically for DVD2SVCD.
2. Internal Routines Identifies and unselects all 0 sized chapters. This is probably the biggest reason for better sync.
3. Each program writes a little differently to the drive.
You might try manually adjusting the delays in BBmpeg. It's under the advanced settings on the BBmpeg tab. You might have to put DVD2SVCD in advanced mode to see this. You will find that option on the Misc. tab.
Also sometimes if you have created images the Title pic is known to cause this on stand alones sometimes.
What are you using to verify that these files are out of sync? Are you playing them on your DVD player, using Power DVD or Windows Media Player?

Answers:
1. I knew
2. Thnx for the info
3. I knew
To verify im using DVD player and Powerdvd, on both svcd and bbmpeg muxed displays the same, and audio passes and become out of synch.
Very interesting about bbmpeg settings but tell me if i adjust delays wouldnt delay will be from the start and then video and audio will be out of synch?
Video and audio are synched till that scene comes,(scene comes almost at the end of first cd), so i will need to adjust delay from frames and not the start.
Do u have any idea how to acomplish this ?
However then ill have problem with subtitles, coz i dunno how to adjust subtitles from frame.
Its abit complicated.
I solved this by recording silent audio from the beginning and move subtitles and encode and that way is synched.
Tell me ur opinion plz!
Thnx

Delaying the audio or video depending on what needs to start later is much like you recording silence so I would think it would work. At this point though since you solved your issue on this disc it probably isn't worth it. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
I don't do subs so I really have no idea how this would change anything.
If this a one off thing then I wouldn't worry about it too much. If this happens all the time there has to be something wrong as this is not a very common problem when you consider how many are using it without a problem as long as they are sticking with Internal routines to rip.

Yes! Youre right! I never had any problem never with audio and video synch its just the company who payed to create dvd had bad scene in the movie and thats all. I had just a problem with subtitles like 1 year ago that dvd2svcd didnt recognize my subtitle (bmp were black, empty) and i solved this by excluding every subtitle xcept mine in stream processing using smart ripper. and then dvd2svcd recognized subtitle, but it was 1 year ago so i dunno if this will still apply me in the future, but i guess it could be interesting information.
However its interesting thing u told me about delaying in bbmpeg. So im just cirious how to do it, but lets just assume that i didnt record silent audio, how to adjust delay lets say everything is synched till the scene, and then audio pass and become out of synch.
Because i dont see frame delays, just video and audio start delay, i would like to ask u how would u solve this issue.
Its nice to know for others, and im learning every day something new :)
Thanks!

You have to have DVD2SVCD in advanced mode for this.
On the BBmpeg tab there is an advanced dropdown, click on this.
Now a new window should have popped up with all kinds of settings.
On the bottom you will see a bunch that all say 180.
If the video is before the audio you would increase this setting, mux and if it is still off then keep doing this until it lines up.
If the audio is before the video then you would increase the audio delay the same way.
If the first disc is ok and the second disc is not you could copy the first good disc to a safe location so it wouldn't be overwritten and ignore what happens to the new first disc and just pay attention to the second. This is a last resort sort of step as it can be time consuming and doesn't always work.

I understood all that from the beginning when u told me about advanced mode, however the scene poup up 2 mins before 1 cd is finished, so i need to do delaying from there but it so i dunno how to do that part, coz then it should be like frame delaying ? or am i wrong?(i think that startup delay means that delay is setup from the beginning the movie or am i wrong? if im not then the movie will be out of synch from the beginning) didnt test it, coz i would like to make things clear before do testings.
Thank you very much about clearing things with me.

If it at the point that you say you might try making the cd size a little smaller so that the break point is right at the problem point.
However I think that your solution is the best one if you recorded the blank spot right at the trouble spot and not at the beginning of the video. That is what I thought you had done at first, but now it seems that you created the silence right at the problem point.

I dont see how smaller cd size would affect on that scene but ill try!
Thnx
markrb
12th March 2003, 17:20
My reason for the smaller cd is to change the point of the problem and put it at the beginning of the second cd. This way you can adjust the delay on the second cd and it will be in sync.
I wouldn't get into this too much as you have already fixed it and it isn't a commom problem. It's just too much work for a one off problem.

Yes! U meant by reducing cd min so scene would go on another cd and from there synch it by adjust delay. Its good idea,
It may happen to someone next time or me, coz this company isnt so good for dvds in my country so im expecting to have next similar problem from them. But what if scene will be for example on the middle of cd. and i need to adjust it. Ur idea by bbmpeg adjust is great, however i dont see frame delay adjust(sorry about my english by that i meant so i can adjust audio from specific video frame)
For that do i have to write to dvd2svcd or bbmpeg author ? like feature request.
Thnx

13th March 2003, 06:01
No you can't really do it that way. You will have to get lucky at finding the right point to cut the cd in size. Like instead of 800MB you put 795 or something. This will only work if the problem is right at the end of the disc and I am sure that this doesn't come out this way all the time. Most likely the problems will be at different spots that this won't work. It's not something anyone can right a program to fix, because the place where the problem is will be random.
I was just saying in this one case it might work if you tried it this way.
