avi (homevideo) to dvd

Hi,

what settings should i use in dvd2svcd when i want to put a 90min homevideo (avi on disk) into dvd mpeg (4,7 g dvd+r)?

Need help can´t find elsewere.

This thread says DVD->DVD, but 90% is generic.

Keep in mind that DVD-R is not 4.7GB's, but really 4.37GB's. It's the old 1000 vs 1024 thing again.

Thanks, but it seems a bit overkill, shouldn´t it be as simple as boosting up the bitrate to 5-6000, cdsize 4300?
The answer i get from dvd2svcd is "The bitrate tab has a wrong configuration" and there is nothing i can do about it.

I'm not quite sure what is wrong with the advice gave by dvd2svcd in his first post in the thread... see below, it is the way I do it and it works perfectly. the only thing you need to change is your input to avi instead of dvd.

1. In the misc. tab select DVD2SVCD Level = Advanced
2. In the CD Image tab select "Don't make images"
3. In the bbMPEG tab under Advanced Settings DoubleClick on MPEG2 (not dvd, as bbmpeg wont create dvd compliant streams)
4. In the CCE tab under Advanced Settings Select "Close all GOPs"
5. In the bitrate tab change the cd sizes to 4300. Set the max. bitrate to 6500 and min to 2000 and max. avg to 6000
6. In the frameserver tab select resize to "DVD 720*480/576" or "CVD 352*480/576"
7. In the audio tab select "Do Not Convert Audio"
8. In the DVD2AVI tab set Luminance Gain to 5

I changed his because In number 5 he had cd size to 1024 but we now know that this is not necessary. One other thing that might be different for you is that you might need to convert your audio to dvd compliant audio.

Nope it's not that simple, but it is still pretty easy.

#5 IMO MAX bitrate should be set to 9000 and not 6000.
#8 Does not apply to you.

You will also have to use an outside authoring program like Scenersit, Maestro or one of the many others since BBmpeg does not make truly DVD compliant videos. It will seem to work on your computer, but it is not DVD compliant.

There are plenty of guides on Doom9 for that.
