I can't help you, but I just want to say I have exactly the same problem.
I tried de-registering and re-registering the codecs as specified in another thread on this forum, but that didn't work.
The preview windows stays black and doesn't show the play and stop buttons.
If anyone knows how to solve this, please tell us :)

...mm running out of options here, did you instal IC& on win2k or XP ?. If yes be sure that you have administrator rights otherwise install will not be as it should be.
Seems that for whatever reason the directshow filters are not installed or registered which are needed to make preview work try this
click start button and choose run and type mplayer2.exe and hit ok
Now open a file with this mediaplayer and let it play, choose from file menu properties and go to advanced tab, look which direct show filters are in use if it shows for video only "video renderer" probably directshow filter is installed proerly if it shows another directshow filter for video then it is not. If theyare not registered this is strange as installation program should do this by default. Anyhow
To register video direct show filters of IC7 make a bat file with this command en run it.
c:\windows\system32\regsvr32 /s "c:\program files\instantCD+DVD\sharedfiles\vobmpg2.ax"
Check that the directory with vobmpg2.ax file reaaly exist on your system. If you installed IC7 in another directory modify command line above accordingly.
Hope this helps to solve your problem

this divg400 is a strange one,
on my system mplayer2 shows following info:
cyberlink audio decoder
default direct sound filter
video renderer
do you have any idea which program installed it (probably a player for divx), could be worth a try to uninstall that program as it might be possible that this divg400 is causing problems with IC7.
If you know the name and location on your HD of the filters belonging to divg400 then you can use same method as described in my previous post to unregister these filters just add /u in front of /s
The /u switch will unregister filters if no /u switch is given it will register the filters.

I was just about to add a reply to this thread saying I found the same thing :D
Seems that using large fonts somehow makes the play and stop buttons disappear in the preview windows :(
