Just had a quick play with Sonic Foundry's DVD Architect. Been trying to find a decent DVD-A authoring program but only managed to find
a) $5000 ones or
b) pile of crap ones
In about 2 mins managed to make a menu with links to 6 different albums -dragged and dropped MP3s into the project and Bob's your fathers brother.
Looks like the DVD compile is slow but the AC3 encoder lets you choose 2 or 5 channel and lower the bitrate to something fairly sensible instead of the usual 9GB a second or whatever it is.
Anyone else trying to get MP3s onto a DVD should give it a go.
No I don't work for Sonic Foundy. Although I wish I did looking at the prices for their stuff.

Thanks for sharing the info, idbirch2. You might also want to share info on the cost for those researching this software. The only ones I've personally seen have been versions of "Disc Welder" from Minnetonka. I've not really had a chance to use them though and I think they're rather pricey. I'd still like to be able to use Disc Welder Chrome since it supports MLP. *drool* hehe :)

Yeah - Disc Welder was the first one I found (by searching these forums). For those who want to know Sonic Foundry's DVD Architect comes bundled with their product "Vegas +DVD" which includes Video Vegas 4.0. and will set you back $599.
It is only version 1.0 at the moment - looks very promising. The buzz on their forum is that there is an update due in the next week or so.
I found it very difficult to find much info on DVD-A authoring. I was unfortunate enough to dowload "Sonic DVD-A creator" at one point - what a load of un-understandable (not a word) rubbish.
DVD Architect has the lovely feel of Sound Forge and is just as intuitive. Previews of your project are available instantly - I was able to figure out how to create a basic DVD-A disc within a matter of minutes.
Anyway, enough plugs for Sonic Foundry, this software is still un-affordable for the average DVD enthusiast but I'm sure some of you can find a way around that. ;) ahem. Is that the time.......

Oh, and on a second note, DVD Architect makes creating animated menus an easy task that anyone can do. By animated menus I mean menus that have a video as the background and videos as buttons.
I added this info to the rather long-winded sticky on how to do the same thing in a week over in the Advanced Authoring forum.
This program rules!!!

I'll agree with you that it's dead simple to use, and it's the only software out there except for what was mention in TRILIGHT post.
But it does have some faults, it looks like you not gonna be able to put no more than 6 to 7 cd's on to 1 DVD-r.
Unless cd's you have are very small in size, then you will be able to put more on.
Also it's very interesting that you where able to use MP3's, where i my case it wanted me to registered it for MP3 function to work.
It was the demo you tried, right ?
And besides, the price is well beyond my Limits.

Hi to all
I read the messages in this thread but I look DVD Architect but is able to put on the disk only 44 or 48 khz traks.
I have Minnetonka Discwleder steel and it is a nice soft, not so many functions (no way to modify the menu that is standard with a background picture imposed by minnetonka, no way to edit menus and a big big problem that when You create a DVD-A disk on some players every trak has a gap of silence before start, unacceptable with classic music recordings!
But for 500$ dollars what You can pretend!!!!
The other software for DVD-A autohring costs thousand of dollars!!!!
Any way someone knows forums or web pages about dvd-a authoring?
Bye Bye
