virtualdub crashes my pc

I open an .avi file
start messing with the arrows so I can set to extract the video+audio for just that parte of the video, so when I start pressing the arrows to find the exact frame it'll crash somewhere when the video frames start to change.

any ideia how I fix this??

I've got a geforce2pro with the 29.20 driver (I changed drivers and it still crashes, so I believe the drivers are not causing any problems).

Which VDub Version are you using? Does it happen with any avi file or only a special one?

I was using virtualdub 1.4.3
I haven't tried a different file.
now I've installed virtualdubmod haven't tried with it yet
but It'll probably crash
the funny thing is, when it crashes, my pc will crash AGAIN within the hour.. then it goes stable as it gets.

I'm not sure, but this awfully sounds like a windoze install beyond expiry date. Alas, before you reinstall windows try latest VDubMod and VDub 1.5.1 to see if that's better.
