Hi all,

Here is a related bug:

"When attempting 2 passes with the latest xvid from Koepi

(17 Feb 03) virtualdubmod will exit when completing the first

pass (the first job in the job control panel). Second pass

runs OK but requires Virtualdub to be re-started and the

second job started manually. Doesn't seem to affect the

overall performance. Just very annoying...

I have Virtualdubmod 1.13.1 with

VirtualDubMod_310103.zip update installed."

Sometimes after completing the first pass VdMod try to start the second one and then an error occurs. One more time no problem if VDM is re-started.

Well Its a known problem but I would like to know if there is a way to fix it.

Thanks.

P.S: What looks very strange to me is that whan I'm trying to encode just a part of the same movie (with exactly the same settings) it sometimes ;) works just fine ...

I got the same kind of problem once : when finishing a pass ( either the first or the second one ), with avisynth + xvid + vdubmod, vdub often ( half the times I think ) crashed at the last frame. The produced avi was correct, but it disallowed me from doing job list.

The problem began when I add some RAM to my computer, and stopped when I change it for another one. But vdub was the only program which crached during this period, and the RAM succeeded in several tests.

Strange ...
Maybe not enough RAM: 256Mo ... SDRam 'no name' of course !
(No no its not a joke ;))
Do you think that the problem can be solved by adding RAM ?

I've had some blue screens wich tend to confirm this:
I think you speak french so I wont take any risk by translating those screens:

"Debut de vidage de memoire physique" --> pê en rapport avec la ram ?
"Une routine de mise en attente (...) DPC ..." enfin un truc ds le genre.
Mais pareil VDM est le seul a planter.
(enfin en meme temps on est pas tres nombreux a avoir le probleme ... dc c pê ps VDM ;))

Enjoy folks , back to english:
Now for people dealing with the same kind of problem (if I'm not the only one ;))

Well Tonight, I found a "way" to make it "work":
VDM has some command line options (see the help section for details)

You can use a batch file but you have to put each part of code corresponding to each job in a separate file (At least for now, I have nothing else ...)

Maybe there is a way to force VDM to do the first job then quit then restart and do the second one ...
Something like:

Virtualdubmod /job1 /x
virtualdubmod /job2 /x
....

Thanks and good luck for those having the same problem !

hi all!

it's just as for a friend'o'mine. steady crashing betw the 1st & 2nd pass with xvid (with or wout avisynth). no problem with other codecs (divx3, divx4, divx5, ...) the only solution was making xvid encode under w98se instead of xp.
i know it does not help u, but maybe the devels can figure out something.

Well,

Even more Strange !
Xvid problem ? No cant belive it ...
But well .. I will give Divx5. a try ;)

I tried under W98 SE but it sometimes just freezes.
And I switch to W2000 because I had some others problems under 98 I hadnt with W2000 anymore ...

Back to W98 ? Not sure ;)

Thanks.
