Nice. Will give it a try again. Ran into the Nero problem and stop using it last time.

The new version 1.2C is working great for me. Saving Private Ryan, Gladiator and The Shipping News all look great. The movie portion that is. The extras at max compress (an option) are functional.

I was wondering if this program is going to be able to do movie only backups. I ask this because for me the picture quality of the main movie is the most important. I can care less about the extras. When you watch movies on a $50K home theater you are more critical of the quality. I would love to see a program have the quality of cce. I don't mind having it take 5 hours to encode. We all have to sleep at night anyway.

$50K home theater and you are whining about $45 software. Your killing me!

@ chipvideo I wish I could have a $50K system(that's not 50K yen?). Anyway you want a good backup in far less than 5 hours - an example with DVD95Copy.
Subject: Independence Day - the main movie is 6.18 GB.
Goal: I want it on one disk and a decent copy.
Method.
1. Rip with DVDDycryptor in File mode (all files) d:/rip (8+GB)
2. IfoEdit Main Movie "strip streams" "remove seamless branch" to /c:VIDEO_TS you are now at 6.18 GB and the main movie only. I could probably put the main menu back if I wanted to screw with it and lose film quality. Do the VTS thing. Next Step.
3. Now process with DVD95Copy to where ever say c:\VIDEO_TS-1 You are now at 4.33 GB main movie only. on my machine 51 minutes
3.Test on PC Player and Run IMGTOOLS to iso doesn't take long.
4. Burn - my chioce DVDcyptor my burner is a 1X - 53 minutes.
How long it takes to rip and final burn depends on your equipment. You probably have a 4X burner. My point is that with DVD95Copy you can get a nice product and not spend 5 hours to do it start to finish. I have DVD2One as well but I like DVD95 better on my particular TV and player. Even having to run ifo edit to get to the main movie isn't a big deal - I had to do it for every movie anyway.

Actaully they are in the emails that come from Digigmedic - the author of DVD95copy. Here is a link to his/her latest updates.

:)
In other words you need to buy the program to get the program updates. No matter what program(s) you prefer; Instant Copy, DVD2One or DVD95Copy, etc.,please support the authors and buy the product. It ensures you get the updates(for most programs) and inspires them to keep development going.

abatis,
You are quite right in your assesements. For some time I have used CCE and been very happy with the results. However, I am always on the lookout for speeding up the process. Last night I tried DVD2ONE for the very first time, and while impressed with the timescales, did notice some "poor quality", althought the overall quality was quite watchable.
Do you (or anyone else) have view on which product has the best quality ??

Yep, that's right! Newest version 1.2.3 is now out. I received e-mail notice yesterday and got the download. I haven't tried a movie with it, but looked at the menu. You can adjust the percentage of compression of the extras! Pretty cool!!:D
Here is a qote from my e-mail: "Here is now a new update for everybody.
v1.2.3 - fixed the crashes on Win98 and ME
- runs better now on some problem title like Minority Report
- added new feature to specify the compression ratio for extras
and menus.
- removed the auto destination folder creation of VIDEO_TS
many users had problems with that."
Cheers and good morning(Sunday) everyone!!

The newer version 1.2.4 is out, and I received my update by e-mail from DigiMedic "fixed a small problem with a few DVDs, where it used to abort too early.
And hopefuly fixed all audio problems now."
I didn't have any problem with 1.2.3 !!
:D At another forum site I read that he is working on and soon to release 1.2.5 version.. Man stays busy improving, don't he?? !!
