I have started using the yv12 way to encode and it rocks ! but i do like using gknot to do compresability test etc and its always good when you dont want to do it manualy . i was wondering if there was a way (basic registry file?) that could switch between the two versions?

I've no idea what the best way is. But have a look at this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45181).

For what you are doing you don't need to have two versions of avisynth, you can go to the options in GordianKnot (version .26 and .27 only I think) and tell it to use mpeg2dec3.dll instead of the normal mpeg2dec.dll. You have to copy the plugin into the GordianKnot folder, but that way you can do compression checks in YV12. Although, you won't be able to use GordianKnot's filters because they don't work in YV12. (but you probably knew that)

yeah , i've seen a few plugins for 2.5/yv12 that look good , the thing is , if i have to edit the script to include the 2.5/yv12 filters then i might as well go all the way to the vdub & XVID way. :D i just like to some times: click click click ...wait...back up :D lol
