Errors in xvid.ax (Nic's build 16-02-03)

Hello,
after installing latest Nic's buils(16/02/03), Mediaplayer 9 crashes trying to open an XviD file.
WMP is 9
Windows XP or 2K
Directx 9

Error received :
AppName: wmplayer.exe AppVer: 9.0.0.2980 ModName: xvid.ax
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 000390f2

All works with uManiac's.

Any other having the same prb? Solutions?

Ugh WMP9 ;)

Have you tried any other media players? Like Windows Media Player 6.4 (goto Start->Run then type mplayer2.exe and hit go)

Let me know if you find out anymore details.

Please read the "when posting bugs sticky" as well. Because I need more information if im to fix the bug. i.e. does it only happen on some encodes? your gfx card, etc. Any/all info is welcome :)

mplayer2 works fine .
If i install ffdshow 20030103, i can see the Xvid that is crashing WMP9 with your xvid.ax .
.
I suspect it depends on the movie, some lead to the error, some plays fine, i have the same problem on my IBM laptop an WIN2K, and at home PIV 1.7-Matrox g550-WinXP SP1 English-DirectX9-WMP9.

Hello,

i've discovered a strange behavior with latest XviD build from nic with ffdshow. If the "bits per pixel" in avi are 16 bits everything is fine but if they are 24 bits the player crashes in xvid.ax
When unchecking 'use xvid.dll' in ffdshow it plays fine.

System W2K + DX8.1, Geforce2 with latest driver.

@uli: Thats a XviD.DLL version or ffdshow problem rather than my xvid.ax. Ill try to look into it even still.

Hmmm. Could you tell me more about the movie. did you encode it? when was it encoded? can you upload a little bit of it.

If anyone else is having this problem please let me know. Ill make a new build and see if that helps.

i cannot tell how the XviD files were created, since i d/l them ...
Anyway it seems i got rid of the problem, i don't know if it makes any sense but while running the XviD file with mplayer2, i selected File/Properties/Advanced and went in XviD config, after changing something and applying changes, now i'm able to run with your latest build also in WMP9 without errors.
This way i solved also a problem with divx503 decoder "Quality level" settings, infact changes made using the Decoder configuration utility directly were always lost, doing the same from mplayer2 menus, they are now set ! ;-)

I did this in WinXP at home and for me its enough.

The 16-Bits movies are made by me with dvd2avi->avisynth->vdub(XviD). The problematic 24-Bit movies are made with vidomi(juck!) by my brother (He don't like complicated tools ;) ). My cpu is an Athlon Thunderbird 1400. Happy weekend!
