@MisterX mostly

The thread I started was closed (why actually? nothing out of the ordinary was posted: just my opinion and MisterX his arguments to change my opinion.) so I reply to you on this thread. I just wanted to make a statement that IC as a standalone program was not all that good. I totally agree with you that using IFOEDIT a lot can be done, which IC claims it can, although it can't. Then again, the real die-hards out there use IFOEDIT exclusively. I have tried altering the source files using IFOEDIT and as a final step, ran it through IC. (basically just using IC as a transcoder like dvd2one). To my supprise this worked perfectly. I'm one to admit mistakes when made and keeping the menu is kinda fun so I'm giving IC a second try. (also many people claim that given the same amount of source film (without extra's) IC produces better quality. FYI I'm testing that right now.

So my question is: Do you basically edit using IFOEDIT and just transcode using IC, or are there some tasks IC can do. My main target is to get the film, the menu and strip the rest, bare the menu's I use (sound/subtitles). IFOEDIT takes a lot of time to master and to edit, so I would like to use IC for as much as possible.

I could use 'make it easy' + dvd2one, but that just seems like much more work as I'm pretty familiar with IFOEDIT.

you see, it does work when used properly and I respect the fact you have posted to show this as your original post was quite negative towards IC, but it wasn't closed because of that :D

IC does the task it is supposed to do. 1:1 backups and I doubt it will ever be able to strip any title from any DVD without problems

IC struggles to delete Titles, but again what people must realise this feature is disabled (probably due to this) and it is sold as a 1:1 backup tool. Feed it a butchered DVD or a DVD ripped incorrectly then it will struggle but won't most programs?. DVD2One won't struggle as it does not try to maintain the DVD structure and only uses one video file/sound files/chapters when working

I think it may be down to IC deleting all the VOB ID's within a VOB when some are needed to maintain the DVD structure as they contain just a black screen but when removed make the player hang

If used for a 1:1 backup then most DVD's will work flawlessly, but some seem to be affected by compression, 60% seems ok for menu's and 40% for extras has given me no problems in nearly 40 DVD's

Now I am not being big headed as there are guys here who probably know more than me, but still have problems with IC and then chances are they have tried every avenue possible to get it to work

I use Ifoedit but still maintain original DVD structure to get it to work alongside IC and produce excellent results everytime

Thats why I wrote an Ifoedit guide for complete newbies in as simple terms as possible because once they know what to do, they will get success

feel free to refer to my increasing guide for IC on how to make a DVD that will work with IC and produce results that you will be impressed by as an addition to your knowledge already gained
