Dual Sided DVD to 3CD ABR MP3

I'm planning on encoding a dual sided 254 min. (144 min./110 min.) DVD into 3 CD's using ABR MP3.

I've ran into this situation twice before, I tried loading both sets of VOB's into DVD2AVI. The video was in good sequence but the demuxed AC3 was really messed up, sounded like it jumped back and forth between the 2 sets.

I was thinking about manually entering the total file sizes in Gknot but then I'd have to deal with the ABR MP3, I'd like to spread the bitrate more evenly too. I want to stay away from using the 5ch AC3 (384kb) stream and CBR MP3 if I can.

Before I spend approx. 24 hours encoding it on a 500Mhz T-Bird with a few filters. Does anyone know of a proven method of doing this sort of thing?

OK I see you combined the two sets of .vob's with DVD2AVI then add trim to the script. Never tried trim, do you think this would fix my problem with the very strange audio?

One reason the audio might be all messed up was they were both the same Program Chain (VTS/IFO) in different folders. Not sure though. It's the same situation I'm looking at with this DVD. I've seen many people say they have had good luck doing it this way. I'm 0 for 2 so far :(

...they were both the same Program Chain (VTS/IFO) in different folders....I assumed you ripped these with IFO parsing -- SmartRipper in Movie mode, or DVD Decrypter in IFO mode -- which should produce a single PGC with a single angle for each set of vobs. If not, this could be the root of your problem.

Yup ripped both sets of VOBS with DVDecrypter (IFO mode) but becuase they were the same PGC on both sides I had to put them in different folders or else they would overwrite each other.

I haven't tried it yet. I've never used trim but AFAIK it just cuts out a few frames. My problem is with the audio demuxing in DVD2AVI. Just doesn't seem to sound right, for some reason.

When I did this with FOTR/EE the audio was out-of-sync until I used the trim option. Audio was left untouched. And yes, I used different folders for the 2 sets of vob files.

If you want to use trim to edit the audio as well, the audio source will have to be added to the AviSynth script in a compatible format, which I think may be limited to Linear PCM (.wav).
