Tweaking The Bitrate Question

I'm Encoding using Nandub and also trying Virtual Dub out as well.

Im encoding an divx anime and notice that no matter how high i put the bitrate it is still using the same kind of bitrate. I wanted to ask how i could increase the bitrate to make Nandub use a higher one then what it thinks. Because im still getting Macroblocking and that in the picture.

divx3 always produces macorblocking, no matter how high the bitrate.
And you already reached saturation (max quality achievable with that codec), that's why you can't reach the desired bitrate.

What can i do to solve the problem.

Because I'm not to sure on what to do about it?

Becuase i need to get better results.

Still need that perfect guide for everything to do and what to do.

Macroblocking is caused by two factors :
-not enough bitrate.
(when you are encoding at too low bitrate some motion scene)
-bug of the codec when encoding at drf=2,3,4 maybe 5.

in other words,
if there is an artifact that don't disappear even at a 6000kbit bitrate,
that means you need to encode it to a lower drf, meaning drf 3 then 4 etc.
It's what the antishit in nandub try to do,
but since it s based on macro analysis of psnr,
it wont detect sometimes the macro block problems and will fails there.

Best solution actually is to use an ecf and force using drf=3 or 4 maybe 5 at the corresponding frame.
