I just captured 1 hour's worth of Video from the TV, all the standard settings needed for a TV capture, everything turned off, max gap between keyframes=1 to make every frame key.
Usually this works fine, I get this message in WMP: Cannot play back the file. The format is not supported. (Error=80040265)
It is read as unsupported in VirtualDub, I did a test capture (about 1:50 mins worth) before hand to check it all works, shamoon! Works fine. This one is encoded with exactly the same options but will refust to play. I tried loading it in gspot, get the same results.
I know XVID is installed correctly.
Guess it will teach me to compress to PicVideo capturing instead of XVID, but the files are so goddam small, 6.44 gigs for 1 hours capturing at 480x576 (10 guesses to where ideally it would end up).
I tried loading it also in AVISynth with ODML, DirectShow and naturally AVISource, no sucess. I can work on the problem later, but really, i'd like to revive that file. Is there any way possible? Any hints to what went wrong, like the header was written incorrectly, if so, can I manually change it?
