i'm trying to copy edward scissorhands. the vob files are all over the place. i saw the same thing with ferris bueller's day off. it's like they jumbled the clips all over the place. on most dvds it seems that the movie flows from vob1 to vob2 etc.. not on these two discs.
also.. if i try to use tmpg to re-render the video, i have a problem when i get to the third file (vts_4_02.vob). suddenly, it won't load properly, and it starts a process called something like "estimating field order".
?????
any ideas on any of this?
thanks.

Hi-
It sounds as if you may have ripped in File Mode. If using SmartRipper, use Movie Mode. If using DVDDecrypter use IFO Mode.

i had ripped it to an image file in dvd decryptor. i then opened the image with winrar and dragged the files back out.
i did this same type of thing before with greek wedding, and didn't have a problem.
does this sound like it would have caused the trouble?
thanks.

how do you do that? i mean open the image file with winrar?
to your problem: i think that your method was your problem. in such cases (rare ones afaik but still there) movie mode is the one to go!

just open the dvd decrypter image file with winrar, and the video_ts and audio_ts folders (and all the files) will be accessable.
i stumbled onto this by accident.

i get to file vts_4_02.vob and it dies. i've tried ifo mode, file mode, image mode (with winrar). i don't get it. i'm yet to be able to re-encode a vob and insert the new video stream. when i tried in ifo mode, ifoedit kept giving me an error when i tried to insert the new video. it said something about it not being a real or valid vob file blah blah.. i'm hitting dead ends.
