Hello Mods,

I was just wondering if it would be possible to have a Do's and Dont's thread or maybe a Q&A for IC along with user hints & tips as some users are creating problems for themselves by not giving IC a fully compliant DVD. Stripping before or during IC is a big issue and also the settings used with DVDDecryter & IC will also have an affect on the outcome

I reckon it would be a great help especially to complete newbies or people having dificulties. I have quite a few suggestions and info with pics on how to use this software for complete success everytime but I'm useless at guides but I seem to be saying the same things over & over again regarding IC and it's problems

I know what works for me may not work for others, but some of the settings or methods that people are using and these in turn create problems but then that is not IC's fault. Admittedly there are a few problematic DVD's but that is not the cause of all the problems people are experiencing

I would like to help others to get the benefits that I am using this tool correctly along with DVDDecyrpter/Ifoedit and the useful PDITOOL

I know this may not be the answer to all the problems but it would be a good start for people instead of the the steep learning curve from the beginning like I had the 1st few times

I have uploaded my DVDDecrypter settings using Filemode and selecting All Files HERE (http://www.deano.dsl.pipex.com/dvdd.htm) and IC settings HERE (http://www.deano.dsl.pipex.com/icset.htm) and these work everytime stripping audio/subs with IC stripping BUT keeping all Titles selected whether I use Ifoedit to strip or not

After stripping VOB ID's I then go no lower than 60% for menu and no lower than 50% for extras, but both have worked just fine -10% when needed due to having a large movie

This has now worked flawlessly for the last 35 backups, and my 3 friends (XP also) using these methods/settings have reported no problems either, so that's over 50 DVD's between us all

above is what I suggest people with XP try first, and if they feel comfortable enough to then proceed onto using Ifoedit to strip the unwanted VOB ID's, but that is not recommended for newbies

As for burning as log as your software is setup and your media is of good quality (I use cheapy ones:)), then you should have no problems caused by burning either

In time I will probably get a full guide from start to finish for complete newbies so all levels of users may take information from it to help in their making of a complete working backup using IC:D

If that's the case then IC7 is worthless to me. DVD2ONE beats it every single time in the quality deptartment just about because of more space dedicated to the movie. I almost always just keep menu (no choice there) and movie and occasionally an extra or two only if worth keeping. I haven't had a single crash ever. Subtitles and audio are no biggie about not being mapped correctly. Just click subtitle button or audio button on the remote and wait 2 secs to see if French subs = Spanish subs or what have you.

Remember people posting problems seems like the majority but I'm guessing 95% haven't a problem. They don't post worthless posts saying..hmm IC7 never crashed on me, etc.

Please do write a full guide on how to do a movie with IC7 with ifoedit and stripping out the extras.

I'm gonna do a complete walk thru, probably but it make take some doing as of yet

you can use ifoedit to strip the film right down if need be, all extras if you want and just leave movie & menus and just let IC squish 5Gb into 4.37Gb
