VOBEdit Demuxes Video at Faster than Normal Speed

Hi,

Please don't flame me if this is a stupid question as I'm relatively new to the scene. I've taken several DVD's and ripped them to my hard drive with no problems. Everything seems to work well when I play them back in PowerDVD. I can also use FLASKMpeg to uncompress the video to AVI format (although that makes the files HUGE).

I've been trying to demux the individual VOB files to AC3 files and video that I can play with in Adobe Premiere. I've used VOBrator to split up the files into AC3 and M2V files. I've renamed the M2V file to MPEG and then opened it and the audio file in Premiere.

The problem is that the video size has become distorted (stretched tall out of the native 16:9 format) and the speed of the video is about double or more that of the audio. I have sync problems from the gitgo.

Anyone know what it is I'm doing wrong here and why the video is so frickin' fast? Thanks.

hi,

first, anamorph 16:9 dvds are encoded at full (without borders) 720x576 (for pal) resolution and stretched to 1024x576 at playing time. non-anamorph 16:9 dvds are 720x576 but with borders and no stretching during playback, i.e. much lower resolution (720x405 compared to 1024x576). if you look at the source material without this horizontal stretching, it will look stretched vertically of course.

about the too fast playing: no clue really. i don't suppose your demux utility modifies the input beyond demuxing which would cause this. so it must be premiere's fault.

not an advice to the problem, but generally, try dvddecrypter. best ripper/demuxer i have seen so far. it can't demux from files on hd (yet? not needed really i think). when i need a true backup i rip to an iso. if i need to demux later i mount with daemon tools and use dvddecrypter again.
