still no luck with instant copy-still crashes

liked dvd2one for making it easy to back-up my x-files stuff but could'nt resist trying instant copy to try to overcome some of the pixelation/audio problems of dvd2one.
copied using file mode dvd decrypter/ifoedit to take out some audio/freezes at 98% during the transoding stage/ after following the guide at www.dvd9to5.com/Instant%20Copy.htm
tried again without ifoedit/same result error "vobtrans.ax"
read in the forum that it is incompatable with other Dvd/.cd Burning/editing stuff.
not to be defeated did a clean install of win2000 (eventually, but that is another story) no dvd/cd software loaded except dvd decrypter and DirectX 9.0 after prompting by Instant copy
loaded the registry trick to customize the dvd size
hopes were high, how foolish can one be, locks out at a measely 33%, no error messages just completely freezez the machine, has to be rebooted tried once more same result F****** Useless Program, well it is 1:48 in the morning.
will try again, hopefully tomorrow on a pristine install of XP pro but any help in the meantime would be most appreciated

The registry trick is an unsupported hack, I would strongly recommend against using it. Also make sure you've disabled the OnlineTranscodingDatabase (per Mr.Bass). Check out the other threads for more suggestions.

am using the trail .91 version
have disabled the transcoding option
will try again without the hack
have been through the whole forum before posting this but i could have missed something of course

I also STRONGLY suggest not using hack, as it does not work properly (why isn't this added to a sticky regarding this issue?. If you use the reg hack you are asking for problems)

Surely you could not have missed my 50 posts on not to use IC to remove Titles :D. Use Ifoedit but be careful as IC is really fussy when you start removing things improperly upsettng the DVD structure

basically feed IC a fully complete DVD that is compliant and it should work for the majority of users

try these settings when using DVDDecrypter & IC also

DVDDecrypter (http://www.deano.dsl.pipex.com/dvdd.htm) & IC (http://www.deano.dsl.pipex.com/icset.htm)

and you should have no problems as long as your OS it setup just fine also

managed to get instantcopy to do the trancoding stage on a totally clean install of XP pro, no hack, no ifoedit.
next stage is to try using ifoedit, taking out the surplus audio and copyright notices (using menu extras, strip, not delete) i have read that this is the way to do it i.e not to press the delete key. as i am copying X-files Discs and could do with saving the half Gig or so. checked out the links for the DVD Decrypter>IC settings, cheers for that
still would like to get it to work on win2000 so that i can leave that O/S dedicated to IC use

nice to see you finally got it working, and if you do use Ifoedit correctly you shouldn't really have any problems :)
